    Sunrun is expanding its Tax Team and is seeking a top quality Tax Manager to join our Corporate Tax Department.  This position will report to the Senior Tax Manager and have responsibility for managing the corporate and partnership income tax functions, including tax provisions, US federal and multistate compliance and tax planning. The Income Tax Manager will work with partners across the Company, as well as externally, to support enterprise initiatives (e.g., transaction planning, system support, business requests, etc.) and to provide information to senior management. 


    • Provide leadership and development of three direct reports, as well as supporting the accounting and project finance staff.
    • Direct the preparation and review of work papers to support the Company's federal and state tax returns and tax provisions.
    • Ensure tax provisions, footnotes and other reporting confirm to applicable GAAP and statutory requirements.
    • Responsible for managing the accurate preparation and timely filing of federal and state tax returns and related payments.
    • Support new business and department initiatives through participation with cross-functional teams and enterprise projects.
    • Work effectively with outside service providers on review and management of corporate and partnership income tax compliance.
    • Participate in other areas of finance related to tax matters, as needed.


    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (accounting, finance or economics) or equivalent work experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a plus.
    • Minimum of 7 years of public company or public accounting experience. Renewable energy background or experience, strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years prior management experience.
    • Background in both corporate & partnership tax with responsibility for tax compliance, accounting and tax planning support.
    • MS Excel, tax and accounting research tools, enterprise/general ledger (GL) systems, and tax compliance applications.
    • Advanced understanding of partnership tax principles and tax accounting guidance, a plus.
    • Strategic planning abilities and critical thinking skills.
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and sound business judgment; self-starter able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
    • Ability to proactively gather and synthesize data from internal and/or external sources, and to guide the analysis of complex issues.
    • Ability to direct functional and company-wide initiatives.
    • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to direct financial processes related to tax and capacity to implement control procedures while driving continuous improvement.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver on tight deadlines.
