  • Overview

    The Manager of Professional Engineering is responsible for the direct supervision of internal Professional Engineers, Engineers in Training, as well as subcontracted Professional Engineers including Civil, Structural, and Electrical engineers. Working together with the Engineering Leadership Team and Operations Management, the position will be responsible for innovating, standardizing, and documenting Engineering processes and procedures, from Site Audit, to Design, to Install.

    Additionally, the Professional Engineering Manager will review photovoltaic solar system designs for structural integrity and code-compliance, and provide structural analysis for residential solar projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Hire, train, and manage a team of Professional Engineers
    • Manage subcontract relationships with Professional Engineers, including but not limited to Structural and Electrical Engineers
    • Drive subcontract performance to meet quality standards as well as SLA
    • Negotiate contractual agreements with subcontractors
    • Develop and maintain Structural Engineering quality standards and expectations
    • Develop and maintain metrics that track team and individual performance
    • Manage team member performance and goals
    • Create, maintain, and improve structural analysis tools used by Site Technicians and by Designers
    • Provide Structural Engineering support for Site Technicians, Designers, and Permit Coordinators.
    • Assist in Structural Engineering training for other departments
    • Collaborate with internal departments and manufacturers to improve build cost and safety

    Qualifications

    • NCEES Professional Civil and/or Structural Engineer certification required
    • 2+ years of management experience required
    • 5+ years of experience in residential structural design required
    • 2+ years of experience in rooftop solar structural analysis preferred
    • AutoCAD and drafting experience preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
    • Proven success in creating and maintaining professional relationships;
    • Strong computer skills
