  • Overview

    The Associate Field Service Technician is responsible for the management, scheduling, and completion of customer requested or warranty required removal/reinstall of solar systems, critter guard systems, panel washing, and other service related items. The Associate Field Service Technician must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the branch team. This position will interact closely with the Branch Manager, the Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Field Service Team.

    Responsibilities

    • Organize and maintain the warranty and service schedule. Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
    • Installation of the mechanical systems of ground or roof mounted solar systems
    • Assemble the racking and solar array. Assemble equipment along with properly sealing all roof penetrations
    • Project clean-up including job site and working vehicle
    • Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed
    • Complete non-electrical Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) and assist the Field Service Technicians with electrical FSDs as needed
    • Receive, update and complete FSDs within the Service Dashboard in Salesforce
    • Assist with other branch tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SKILLS)

    • High School diploma is required
    • 1-2 years previous experience in the solar or construction industry preferred
    • Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Professional appearance and interaction
    • Strong computer skills
    • Ability to drive to multiple sites throughout the day. Must maintain a clean driving record with ability to pass driving background check. Must be 21 years of age to qualify as an authorized driver
    • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with regard to safety
    • Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse environment
    • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work
    • Ability to interact with coworkers and participate in meetings

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
    • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
    • Ability to climb ladders
    • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
    • Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
    • Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment
    • Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
    • Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
    • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
    • Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green
    • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching
    • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
    • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections
